The DAWSON Art Project is an initiative to build capacity in the Hawaiian contemporary art community through the commissioning of new work and in-office exhibitions hosted by DAWSON.
DAWSON commissioned six pieces of Hawaiian contemporary art, a further commitment to creative Hawaiian communities. Leleo Kinimaka, Carl F.K. Pao, Dalani Tanahy and Solomon Enos created new work, shown for the first time as part of the offices’ opening in 2015. Through video vignettes, these artists are showcased through DAWSON’S network. Over the course of a year, four exhibitions of original Hawaiian art will be on display in the DAWSON offices. Acquisitions made from each exhibition will further expand DAWSON’S art collection.
